How to Detect a Broken Sprinkler Pipe Before it Causes Flood or Water Damage to Your Home

It is very common that most people think water disaster mitigation companies are slow during the summer months. Because water consumption increases in the summer, it can actually be one of our busiest times of the year. Whenever a plumbing source is being used, there is always a greater chance for water damage to occur.

The most common water loss in the summertime is broken sprinkler lines.  Many people forget to check the sprinklers at the beginning of the season and make sure everything is running properly.  Once automatic sprinklers turn on, what they don't realize is that they have a river of water traveling across the ground and into their house.

Here are some tips on how to check your sprinkler system for broken lines and leaks:

• Check sprinkler heads for any malfunction
• Double check the hose bib or spigot to make sure it working properly
• Once you have turned on the sprinkler, take a look at the yard to see if the water pressure and coverage is even. Low pressure or heads that don't work at all could be a sign of cracked or broken line underground.
